After experiencing a series of miracles and finally arriving in New York safe and sound, two shluchim from Ukraine benched gomel on Monday in 770, thanking Hashem for saving their lives.

The shluchim Rabbi Chaim Levinson and Rabbi Levi Raices of Kharkov, Ukraine, arrived in New York Sunday night and their families, after traveling for over 5 days through a number of countries on their way to safety.

A large group of bochurim and anash travelled to JFK airport to greet them Sunday night, and broke into song and dance on their arrival. Upon their late-night arrival in 770, they were once again greeted with joyful dancing and l’chaims.

On Monday morning, the two shluchim returned to 770 to bench gomel, the bracha recited when one survives a life-threatening situation. Rabbi Levinson received an aliya and benched gomel in an earlier minyan, and Rabbi Raices was honored with an aliya at the main minyan, followed by his recital of hagomel. His son also benched gomel at the conclusion of krias hatTorah.

Together with the gratitude to Hashem for the many miracles that happened until now, prayers were offered for those remaining in the line of danger that they should be safe and no harm befall them.
