Rebbe’s 40-Year-Old Edits Found Days Before Historic Siyum
In a remarkable case of hashgacha protis, handwritten edits from the Rebbe about participating in the siyum Sefer Torah, dated exactly forty years ago, have surfaced just days before the historic hachnasas Sefer Torah of the ninth Sefer Torah of Yaldei Yisroel, set to take place this coming Monday, 20 Menachem Av, at the Kosel Plaza.
In the sichah delivered exactly forty years ago to the day, the Rebbe spoke about the mivtzoim that Chassidim should be involved with, including ensuring that each Yid has a letter in the Sefer Torah.
In the Rebbe’s handwritten edits, revealed for the first time today, the Rebbe added edits and holy handwriting about taking part in the campaign of Os B’Sefer Torah: “To participate in them, in the siyumim, with his soul, (also) with his body, (also) with his money.”
The find comes at a moment already charged with significance, just days before the historic siyum, years in the making. The timing of this hagahah’s discovery has not gone unnoticed among Anash.
“The Rebbe encouraged many times that when a certain matter is revealed at a certain time, Chassidim should look for what horaah and avodah the Rebbe is telling us now,” Rabbi Shmuel Greisman, shliach and chairman of the Sefer Torah committee, said. “The Rebbe is sending us a clear directive today, after Gimmel Tammuz, ahead of the major event this coming Monday. An event that is entirely the Rebbe’s.”
The Rebbe’s words in the hagahah, calling on every Yid to take part “with his soul, with his body, with his money,” are being read by many as a direct call to action ahead of Monday’s event. The discovery has stirred deep excitement throughout the Chabad world and has already spurred a wave of support toward covering the significant costs involved in mounting next week’s historic event.
Anash are encouraged to take part in the effort ahead of Monday’s hachnasas Sefer Torah. Click here to participate.
