Rabbi Yakov Noach Lazaros, who served as the Rebbe’s shliach to Framingham, Massachusetts, for 47 years, passed away on Shabbos, Rosh Chodesh Iyar.
Rabbi Yakov Noach Lazaros, who served as the Rebbe’s shliach to Framingham, Massachusetts, for 47 years, passed away on Shabbos, Rosh Chodesh Iyar.
He was 78 years old.
Sent by the Rebbe to Framingham in 1978 under the auspices of Rabbi Hershel Fogelman, Rabbi Lazaros devoted his life to spreading Yiddishkeit and strengthening Jewish life throughout the area alongside his wife, Mrs. Sheva Lazaros ybd”l.
He was known for his sincerity, refinement, and deep commitment to his shlichus. Through his warmth and personal example, he brought countless individuals closer to Torah and mitzvos, dedicating himself tirelessly to helping Jews from all walks of life.
A respected talmid chochom and an expert in halacha, Rabbi Lazaros received his semicha from Rabbi Moshe Feinstein.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sheva Lazaros, and their children, R’ Sruly Lazaros (Brooklyn, NY), R’ Chaim Lazaros (Hong Kong), Rabbi Moshe Lazaros (Lakeland, FL), R’ Mendel Lazaros (Englewood, NJ), R’ Shaya Lazaros (Ohr Yehuda, EY), Mrs. Gitzy Small (Atlanta, GA), and Sarah Lazaros (Manhattan, NY), as well as many grandchildren.
The levayah will be held today, Sunday, April 19, at New Montefiore Cemetery in West Babylon, NY.
