Rabbi Wagner’s Students Launch Learning Initiative in His Memory

A mivtza to master a volume of the Rebbe’s Torah had been launched to bring to action the inspiration that Toronto Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Akiva Wagner cultivated in his students during his 26 years of mentorship.

Upon the untimely passing of Rabbi Wagner a”h, many have looked for an outlet to dedicate in his memory.

Among the myriad of accomplishments in his short life, Rabbi Wagner was uniquely involved in mastering the Rebbe’s ma’amarim.

Often calling upon each bachur to take on a ma’amar that he will master, Rabbi Wagner made an exemplary role model, being able to quote countless ma’amarim verbatim at a moment’s notice.

In this spirit, his talmidim from throughout the years saw it appropriate to launch a mivtza to bring many others to the point that they “own” a volume of the Rebbe’s ma’amarim in his memory.

The details of the mivtza are as follows:

Starting from this Sunday, Rosh Chodesh Sivan we will be learning Sefer Maamarim – Melukat Vov. The project will continue for the next couple of months. These were the last ma’amarim that the Rebbe edited, to date. There are ten ma’amarim in this volume.

We will be learning each ma’amar over two weeks, with a weekly shiur on half of a ma’amar at a time. The shiurim will be delivered by prominent rabbonim and shluchim worldwide.

We also offer resources to make it easier to learn the ma’amar , such as translating difficult words and written summaries of each ois of the ma’amar .

The goal of this initiative is to give as many chassidim as possible the ability to master one single volume of the Rebbe’s Torah, thereby taking to heart the inspiration Rabbi Wagner toiled to instill.

May this bring to a true Aliyah for his Neshamah with the ultimate being the yeridah back down here together with the coming of Moshiach now.

There will be a Whatsapp group dedicated to the learning of these maamarim, with additional resources and Shiurim to be posted.
