A moving bris was held for the newborn son of Rabbi Liraz Zeira, the campus shliach in Yerushalayim and IDF reserve major who lost both legs after being severely wounded in battle.

The bris took place at Mercaz Chabad BaCampus, the spacious Chabad House led by Rabbi Zeira, where family, shluchim, rabbonim, friends, and many of those close to the family gathered to share in the simcha. The baby was named Asaf Dovid ben Liraz Tzvi Halevi.

The celebration came one week after Rabbi Zeira and his wife, Anat, welcomed their sixth son at Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center, which Rabbi Zeira described as a source of healing for the entire family. Holding his newborn son at the hospital, he said, “There is no greater recovery than this. There is no greater healing than this.”

Rabbi Zeira was severely wounded during reserve duty in October 2025, during fighting in Syria, in an explosion that left him critically injured and led to the amputation of both legs. Since then, he has undergone a long rehabilitation while continuing to inspire others with his emunah.

The honor of sandak was given to Rabbi Chaim Shlomo Diskin, rav of Kiryat Ata and member of Beis Din Rabbonei Chabad in Eretz Yisroel.

Among those who participated in the simcha were Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Segal, rav of the Chabad community in Rechavia; Rabbi Yaakov Halperin, shliach and Chabad representative on the Yerushalayim City Council; Rabbi Tzvi Ruderman, shliach in Machane Yehuda; Rabbi Yisroel Goldberg, shliach in Rechavia; Rabbi Noam Roth, director of Tzeirei Agudas Chabad of Yerushalayim; Rabbi Daniel Kalev, shliach in Kiryat Moshe and Givat Shaul; and Rabbi Yossi Swerdlov, along with additional shluchim from Yerushalayim and across Eretz Yisroel.

Also joining the celebration were Rabbi Zeira’s doctors, who have accompanied him with dedication since his injury, together with many friends and mekuravim who came to wish mazal tov to the family.

During the seudas bris, Rabbi Shalom Ber Marzel, shliach to Nachlaot, made a siyum on Sefer Kedusha of the Rambam together with those gathered.
