Over 40 minutes of lively Chabad rikud and simcha niggunim have been released in a new track titled Simcha V’rikud by the “Yedidei Roi” YouTube channel.
The album was produced by Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Bachar of Colombo, Sri Lanka, whose lifelong love for niggunim has motivated him to create the channel dedicated to Chabad niggunim, including some that are barely known outside small circles of baalei menagnim. Rabbi Bachar uses AI music technology to produce fresh recordings while preserving the original spirit of each niggun.
“Music technology is still not perfect,” he told Anash.org, “but I believe that shouldn’t stop us from producing niggunim to inspire our avodas Hashem.”
The new album features joyous, upbeat niggunim meant to inspire dancing and simcha. It includes well-known niggunim, such as a Niggun Hakafos of Reb Levi Yitzchok, “V’samachta,” and “Niggun Rikud – We Want Moshiach Now,” alongside lesser-known niggunim, including “Simcha” of Reb Peretz HaZaken, the Nikolayev Rikud Niggun, and a Niggun Simcha from Klimovitch. The album closes with “V’samachta B’chagecha.”
