Mrs. Miriam Meijers, a longtime Shlucha in Amsterdam, passed away on Friday, Chof Daled Av.

She was 82.

For decades, Mrs. Meijers served on Shlichus in Amsterdam alongside her husband, Rabbi Eliezer Daniel Meijers, raising a Chassidishe family while carrying out the Rebbe’s Shlichus in the Netherlands.

Their Shlichus began shortly after their marriage, when the Rebbe instructed the couple to settle in Amsterdam. Rabbi Meijers was the first Shliach sent by the Rebbe to settle in the Netherlands.

Raising a Chassidishe family in Amsterdam in those years was far from simple. Rabbi and Mrs. Meijers went to great lengths to ensure that their children received a proper Chabad chinuch, including sending them away from home when necessary to learn in Chabad mosdos.

The Meijers home in Amsterdam was known for its hachnosas orchim, and over the years they hosted the Rashag, R’ Bentzion Shemtov, R’ Mendel Futerfas, R’ Leizer Nanes, R’ Chaim Hillel Azimov and many other prominent Chassidim, as well as members of the Rebbe’s Mazkirus passing through the city. Many of those visits became lengthy farbrengens that continued until daybreak, with hours spent speaking in Chassidus and avodas Hashem.

In their later years, the Meijerses moved to Eretz Yisroel and settled in Yerushalayim.

Mrs. Meijers passed away on Chof Daled Av, eleven years after her husband, whose yahrtzeit falls just one day earlier, on Chof Gimmel Av.

She is survived by her children: Rabbi Pinchas Avraham Meijers (The Hague), Rabbi Dovid Eliyahu Meijers (Yerushalayim), Rabbi Baruch Mendel Meijers (Crown Heights), Rabbi Ezra Emanuel Meijers (Beitar Illit), and Mrs. Sarah Nemanow (Brunoy, France), as well as her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The levaya took place on Friday afternoon, leaving Shamgar in Yerushalayim for kevura on Har Hazeisim.
