Motzei Shabbos: Daylight Savings Time Begins

At 2 a.m. local time Motzei Shabbos, daylight saving time will begin, meaning we move the clock ahead one hour.

Daylight saving time officially begins this Sunday at 2 a.m., meaning we move the clock ahead one hour. We will remain on daylight saving time until we switch back to standard time and “fall back” an hour in the fall.

Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and most of Arizona don’t observe daylight saving time, so there’s no need to change the clocks in those places.

Many fire departments encourage people to change the batteries in their smoke detectors when they change their clocks because the bi-annual DST change provides a convenient reminder.
