Mother and Daughter Learning Program Goes Interstate

It’s not only the boys who are hitting the books this week. The Crown Heights Womens’ Circle is kicking off their seventh season of Imahos U’banos this week, and communities in Pomona and Kingston, PA, are joining as well.

It’s not only the boys who are hitting the books this week.

In honor of Hakhel, the Women’s Circle kicks off their seventh season of Imahos U’banos with an expansion to two new locations. In addition to three venues in Crown Heights, mother and daughter chavrusas will now be learning in Kingston, Pennsylvania and Pomona. A sixth site, set to launch in East Flatbush, will be announced next week IY”H.

Imahos U’banos, or IUB, invites mothers and daughters to study together each month. The program offers prepared study guides connected to the parsha and yoma d’pagra with the option of girls bringing their own homework or study material. Like Avos U’banim, treats, raffles, and a grand finale event are par for the course.

Interestingly, it isn’t these perks that keep girls returning. Many look forward to this uninterrupted, focused time with their mothers as the treat of the month. Several moms have said it is their chance to really connect one on one and see where their daughters are in learning and life. IUB welcomes girls from age seven and up and is open to everyone in the community.

Imahos U’banos is generously sponsored by the Lebovic and Smetana families.

Imahos U’banos of Kingston, PA will debut this evening, Tuesday, at 7:30 pm at Beis Moshe. Across Crown Heights the IUB season will commence tomorrow, Wednesday at 7:30 at the following three locations: Kahal Chassidim, Nosson’s Shul, and Lubavitch of Remsen Village.

In Pomona, Imahos U’banos will occur on Sunday evening at 8 pm at BMML.
