Members of 14 Chabad shuls in Monsey are joining forces for a community-wide gift to the Rebbe, distributing hundreds of pounds of shmura matzah to individuals who would otherwise not have any.
Rabbi Simcha Werner of the NCFJE of Rockland County directs mivtza matzah in his area each year, giving out shmurah matzah to many individuals. This year, in honor of the Rebbe’s 120th birthday, the community is coming together to expand its reach even further.
In partnership with Or Vechom, NCFJE will provide shmurah matzos and gift boxes, free of charge, to any member of Anash who will give them out to a fellow Yid who would otherwise not have any. A representative was appointed in each of the 14 Chabad shuls in Monsey to encourage and facilitate the distribution.
“We are very excited about this project,” said Rabbi Levi Tiechtel, one of the organizers. “Besides for the hundreds of individuals who will be receiving matza, it’s giving anash the zchus to participate in a special hachana for Yud Alef Nissan. Every Shul is involved in this community-wide gift to the Rebbe.”
