Many Happy Faces at Pre-Shavuos Event on the Parkway

Over 2,000 happy faces filled the JCM Plaza on Sunday, for the “Pre-Shavuos on the Parkway” event, with a “Sefiras Haomer racetrack,” Shavuos craft station, and delicious ice cream treats.

What happens when over 3,000 children and families gather to celebrate Shavuos? Pure magic! The JCM Plaza was alive with color, laughter, and achdus this Sunday, 27 Iyar, as the Pre-Shavuos on the Parkway event turned into a festival of Jewish joy.

Kids zoomed around the Sefiras HaOmer Race Track, counting their way to Matan Torah with giggles and speed! At the heart of the plaza stood the Unity Mural, where each child decorated a figure to stand beside Har Sinai, symbolizing K’ish echad b’lev echad, just like our ancestors stood, united as one.

Tiny hands explored the Green Rice Sensory bins filled with flowers, molded their own alef-bais with soft playdough, and dove into a world of creative play and imagination.

The Shavuos Craft Table was buzzing, as each child created their own masterpiece to bring the spirit of Yom Tov home. And for a delicious surprise? Tofutti Ice Cream Sandwiches, cold, creamy, and a total hit!

The event paused for a heartfelt moment of unity, as the community united to say the 12 Pesukim and a Kapitel Tehillim for our dear brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisroel, a powerful reminder that we are one people, wherever we are.

Huge thanks to the Jewish Children’s Museum, Rabbi Yerachmiel Benjaminson, Devorah Halberstam, Rabbi Sholom Ber Baumgarten, the Education Department, Tofutti for the delicious Ice Cream Cuties, Rabbi Shimon Rivkin and the ever-supportive NYPD.

Crown Heights! you brought the energy, the smiles, and the funThanks for making this day unforgettable!
