Kazakhstan Jews Mark Lag Baomer at Reb Levi Yitzchok’s Ohel

Hundreds of Jews in Alma-Ata joined a Lag B’omer parade from the Levi Yitzchak Shul to the Ohel of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, where a pan was read on behalf of the community and the Rebbe’s shluchim across Kazakhstan.

Hundreds of Jews in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, marked Lag B’omer with a parade from the Levi Yitzchak Shul to the Ohel of Harav Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, the father of the Rebbe.

The parade was held as part of the Lag B’omer activities organized by the Rebbe’s shluchim in Kazakhstan, bringing together children, parents and community members for a public celebration of Yiddishkeit.

At the Ohel, community chairman Albert Shimoni read a pan in the local language on behalf of the Jewish community and the Rebbe’s shluchim throughout the country.

The pan included tefillos for those in need of a refuah shleima, parnasa, shidduchim, zera chaya v’kayama and personal yeshuos, along with brachos for the continued success of the Rebbe’s shluchim in Kazakhstan. The community also davened for peace and security in Eretz Yisroel and for Jewish communities around the world.

A special bracha was included for the supporters and partners who help strengthen Jewish life in Kazakhstan and its Chabad-Lubavitch institutions.

The Alma-Ata program continued with a children’s celebration featuring inflatables, entertainment, prizes and other Lag B’omer activities.

Lag B’omer celebrations were also held in Jewish communities across Kazakhstan. In Astana, participants gathered for a bonfire, parade and dancing. In Shymkent, children enjoyed bows and arrows, a barbecue, games and a bonfire. In Karaganda, community members gathered around the fire for a Lag B’omer program. In Kostanay, children joined a parade with entertainment and prizes, and in Ust-Kamenogorsk the local community marked the day with its own celebration.

The events brought together Jews from across Kazakhstan for Lag B’omer programs centered on children, community and the Rebbe’s call to hold public parades on the day of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai’s hilula.
