Kfir Bibas, the redheaded infant who made headlines worldwide as the youngest hostages to be kidnapped on October 7, marked his first birthday in Hamas captivity.

Bibas was kidnapped with his parents Yarden and Shiri Bibas and his four year old brother Ariel. His entire family was stolen from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz when he was only nine months old. Approximately a quarter of his life has been held captive by a terrorist organization.

Kfir is the youngest of the 253 hostages taken into Gaza by Hamas during the Simchas Torah terror attacks against Israel.

Friends and relatives of the Bibas family held a small event at Nir Oz on Tuesday, commemorating Kfir’s birthday with a large balloon display and a cake featuring the famous photo of Kfir with the pink elephant.

On Thursday, the family is holding a public event in Tel Aviv on Thursday, pleading for their release. They will be joined by major Israeli children’s entertainers to help bring attention to the ongoing trauma of the Bibas abduction.

His birthday was mentioned by Israel’s President Isaac Herzog while he was speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland next to a photo of Kfir.

“This is Kfir Bibas. Kfir today, is celebrating one year since his birth. Exactly a year ago, he was born to his parents, Shiri, his mother, and his father, Yarden, and his brother Ariel,” Herzog said.

“His whereabouts are unknown. We know he was kidnapped by Hamas. We know that these barbaric terrorists have taken him, his mother his brother, and his father. We know that they are going through hell, and we don’t know their whereabouts.
