Is There Tachanun Today? There’s an App for That
A new online tool, IsThereTachanun.com, makes it quick and simple to know whether Tachanun is said on any given day, according to minhag Chabad.
A new online tool, IsThereTachanun.com, makes it quick and simple to know whether Tachanun is said on any given day, according to minhag Chabad.
The site gives a clear “Yes” or “No” for Shacharis, Mincha, and Shema Al Hamitah, along with relevant minhagim and notes. Users can also check another date in advance.
The tool can also be added to a phone like an app: open IsThereTachanun.com in your browser, tap the browser’s three-dot menu, and choose Save to Home Screen or Add to Home Screen.
The site includes a list of no-Tachanun dates, notes on dates where minhagim vary, and sources from Chabad.org and ShulchanAruchHaRav.com.
For feedback and corrections, please email[email protected]
Should also add 10-11 and 22 shvat and siyum harambam to varied minhagim
Great tool! 🙂
The Rebbe said many times that in Chabad a yahrtzeit is davka an auspicious day to recite tachnun!
# 1 – thanks for the positive feedback.
#2 – the reason they’re not added is due to the reasoning given by the second comment. The Rebbe once asked the Frierdikker Rebbe, and that was the reasoning he gave.
who are the rabbonim that gave their haskama for this? there are too many dates and times that are doubtful, and need rabbinic opinion (motzei r”h, eve of erev yk, motzei r”ch and many other days etc etc)
All of the sources used are clearly listed.
Rabbanim have been consulted, but I have not listed them, as I have not requested any haskamah.
This tool is NOT a halachic authority, when in doubt, ask a rav.

Super helpful tool! Thanks for putting your time into this!
