Iranian Missile Narrowly Missed Itamar’s 770
An Iranian missile which landed just outside the community of Itamar in Shomron on Monday, narrowly missed both homes and the local Chabad center built in the likeness of 770. Despite significant damage, there were miraculously no injuries.
Residents of Itamar are thanking Hashem for a miracle after an Iranian missile landed just outside the community on Monday morning, causing significant damage but, remarkably, no injuries.
The missile was part of a barrage launched toward Israel shortly after 7:00 a.m. As sirens sounded across the country, families in the Shomron rushed for shelter. One of the missiles fell near a residential neighborhood in Itamar, narrowly missing both homes and the local Chabad center built in the likeness of 770.
The impact caused extensive damage in the area. Four homes were hit by the blast, some sustaining significant destruction. Yet despite the force of the explosion and the proximity to populated homes, no residents were physically harmed.
Among those affected was an Anash family, whose home suffered major damage after the missle landed just a few meters from their home. The blast tore through the house, collapsing ceilings, destroying walls, shattering windows, and sending cabinets and furniture flying. A display cabinet exploded from the force of the impact, while an electric blind was damaged and became stuck.
Aviad Khalili described waking to a thunderous explosion and finding his room engulfed in dust and rubble.
“The ceiling came down where I had been moments earlier,” he said. The only section that remained intact was the panel directly above where he was sleeping. The room’s window was torn from its frame, while bathrooms and other parts of the house were left heavily damaged.
His immediate concern was for his son, who had been sleeping elsewhere in the house. One boy, who normally sleeps in the upper bunk, was not in his bed that night when debris rained down onto it. The other son sleeping in the lower bunk was protected when debris fell around him, with the bunk bed shielding him from injury.
Perhaps the most striking scene was a wall directly behind the bed where two girls normally sleep, which was completely torn apart by the blast. On the night of the strike, neither girl was sleeping in her usual spot. The room suffered major damage, with debris and parts of the ceiling falling throughout.
Baruch Hashem, every member of the family emerged unharmed, with Khalili describing their survival as nothing short of a miracle.
“It’s truly a miracle”, He said. “It’s truly a miracle that only a few people were home last night.”
One local mother recalled receiving the early warning and running with her husband and children to the community’s shelter. Just moments before they entered, a massive blast shook the neighborhood.
“It was the kind of explosion that knocks you off your feet,” she said. “We knew it had landed nearby, but we had no idea how much damage had been done. Only afterward did we realize the magnitude of the miracle.”
Not far from the scene of the strike was the 770 building, which serves as a center of Torah, tefillah, and community life in Itamar. The near miss left many amazed by Hashem’s protection of the residents of Eretz Yisroel during this difficult time.
