International Moshiach Chidon 5786 Winners Announced
At the climax of the Moshiach Chidon, the judges calculated the scores based on accuracy, depth, and speed. The top prizes were awarded to the 5786 champions.
The atmosphere was electric last Thursday as 400 bochurim, representing 36 yeshivos from across the globe, gathered for the grand finale banquet of the International Moshiach Chidon 5786. The evening marked the culmination of months of intense study, during which participants mastered hundreds of pages of Inyonei Geulah and Moshiach.
Following the opening remarks, the finalists took to the stage to demonstrate their incredible mastery of the material. The competition was divided into three rigorous rounds testing both broad knowledge and analytical depth:
Round 1: The Multiple Choice Grid:
The finalists navigated a challenging questionnaire covering detailed discussions on Inyonei Geulah U’Moshiach. In a unique twist for 5786, the global audience was able to participate live via interactive text and QR code voting.
Round 2: The Crossfire Round:
Led by Rabbi Shloma Majeski and Rabbi Mendel Blau, this high-speed round gave the remaining contestants just 15 seconds to articulate concise, accurate answers.
Round 3: Profound knowledge :
Led by Rabbi Sholom Zirkind, the top three finalists were given several opportunities to articulate complex, Moshiach-related concepts in just 60 seconds. The contestants brilliantly dissected intricate topics, including the status of Mitzvos today versus by the Geulah, which Korbanos will be brought when Moshiach comes, and practical ways to live with a Geulah mindset in our day-to-day lives.
A major highlight of the banquet was the presentation of special three-year completer certificates. Over 50 dedicated bochurim were called to the podium to receive honors for completing three consecutive years of the full Moshiach Chidon curriculum—an achievement met with a roaring standing ovation from their peers.
Between the competitive segments, popular singer Eli Marcus led the room in spirited niggunim, turning the competitive Chidon atmosphere into a joyous celebration of song and dance.
And the Winners Are…
At the climax of the evening, the judges calculated the scores based on accuracy, depth, and speed. The top prizes were awarded to the 5786 champions:
First Place: Schneur Vigler (Yeshiva of Pomona), who won a Ksav Yad of the Rebbe.
Second Place: Sadya Bell (Yeshiva of Suffield), who won a Dollar of the Rebbe.
Third Place: Menachem Hurowitz (Mesivta Menachem Westchester), who received a Stamp from the Rebbe.
Additionally, special yeshiva-wide raffles for dollars from the Rebbe were held for yeshivos where more than half of the student body passed the final exam. Yeshiva of Cincinnati and Yeshiva of Scottsdale, Arizona, each took home a Rebbe Dollar for their collective effort.
The excitement extended well beyond the main stage, with over 90 raffle winners receiving more than 1,000 seforim over the course of the event. Furthermore, every single participant walked away with a sought-after copy of Inyano Shel Moshiach as a memento for his outstanding accomplishment.
As the bochurim exited the hall carrying their newly won seforim, the ultimate message of the night was clear: the goal is not merely to learn about Moshiach, but to live it in our day-to-day lives.
There is no doubt that this incredible project brought the Rebbe a tremendous amount of Nachas, and the strong hachlotos (resolutions) to continue learning about Moshiach will definitely hasten and usher in the ultimate Geulah—may it be NOW!
