Governor of Illinois JB Pritzker joined a delegation of Shluchim for a Chanuka celebration at the State of Illinois Center in Chicago, for the first in-person event held at the State’s secondary capitol since covid began.
The event was coordinated by Rabbi Avrohom Kagan, Shliach in River North, and Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois Director of Government Affairs, and Rabbi Meir Moscowitz Regional Director of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, and joined by a delegation of Illinois Shluchim.
Governor JB Pritzker remarked “On this Hanukkah, it’s an honor to share my heritage and my faith with the people of Illinois as we unveil Illinois’ menorah. Hanukkah brings us a reminder that from the darkness, comes the light. If we work together, the light brings hope and healing and better days ahead.”
Today, the unprecedented public display of Chanukah has become a staple of Jewish cultural and religious life, forever altering the American practice and awareness of the festival.
