Amid heightened tensions in the north, fear is mounting that Hezbollah may attempt to fire rockets toward the Meron area during Lag BaOmer.

This comes following the government’s decision to cancel all public gatherings at Har Meron after extensive back-and-forth, debate, and rising public tension. Initially, officials had agreed to allow a limited form of attendance under a scaled-down plan.

Only three hadlakos were approved this year instead of the usual 19, with attendance capped at around 200 people each.

However, even those three small hadlakos that were still expected to take place may now be canceled as well, this time due to severe weather conditions.

Forecasts predict powerful winds reaching up to 80 km/h on Monday evening, raising serious safety concerns surrounding open flames and large outdoor gatherings.

“Under these circumstances, and with great regret, we will be forced to announce that no Lag BaOmer events will take place in Meron in 5786-2026,” said Ministry Director-General Shimon Elbaum.

Despite the cancellations, police are reportedly preparing for the possibility that groups may still attempt to reach Har Meron, and for potential confrontations that could follow.
