This Chanukah, counselors of Camp Yeka will travel to Ukraine to bring warmth and light to local boys during the cold and dark winter. Through the glow of the menorah, engaging programs, and the joy of friendship, the camp will ignite their love for Yiddishkeit and create lasting Jewish memories.
This past summer, Camp Yeka provided over 80 disadvantaged Jewish boys from Ukraine with a transformative experience in the serene Carpathian Mountains. For three weeks, the boys enjoyed fun activities, Jewish learning, and meaningful friendships, all while fostering pride in their Yiddishkeit.
A highlight of the summer was three boys receiving Jewish names and undergoing a Bris Milah at camp, while another had his Bris in Odessa with counselors traveling to support him. Six boys celebrated their Bar Mitzvahs, and four boys committed to wrapping tefillin daily received their own pairs. These powerful moments kindled their neshamos and deepened their connection to their Jewish heritage.
As we reflect on the summer’s success, we are now focused on the upcoming Winter Camp, which will take place during Chanukah in Zhytomyr.
Winter Camp: Kindling Light and Warmth
This 10-day camp is designed to bring warmth and light to the boys during the cold Ukrainian winter. Through the glow of the menorah, engaging programs, and the joy of friendship, the camp will provide an environment to ignite their love for Yiddishkeit and create lasting Jewish memories. In these challenging times, Winter Camp offers a critical opportunity for the boys to reconnect, recharge, and find joy amidst adversity.
We are currently in the midst of a fundraiser to ensure Winter Camp becomes a reality. Your support is vital to helping us bring this life-changing experience to the boys, providing them with hope, connection, and a brighter future.
Together, we can kindle their neshamos and bring the light of Chanukah into their lives. Thank you for your generosity and unwavering dedication to this mission.
