Head of Israel’s Shin Bet Security Forces Visits 770

David Zini, head of the Israeli Security Agency “Shin Bet,” came for a visit to 770, accompanied by community activist Rabbi Chanina Sperlin and 770 shliach Rabbi Mendel Eisenbach.

The head of Israel’s powerful internal security service made his way through 770, where the zal was filled with the familiar sight and sound of hundreds of bochurim immersed in their learning.

The visit came during Zini’s current trip to the United States, his first since assuming leadership of the Shin Bet, which has included meetings with senior American security officials.

Zini, 52, took over the Shin Bet in 2025 following decades in the IDF, where he rose to the rank of major general. A veteran combat officer, he commanded the Egoz elite unit and later became the founding commander of the Oz Commando Brigade, bringing together several of the IDF’s elite special forces units under one command.

Born into a frum family, Zini is the son of Rabbi Yosef Zini and a father of 11. His frum background has remained a notable part of his public profile throughout his years in senior military and security positions.

Zini is also known for his ties with Chabad chassidim. He was among the prominent guests at the central Yud-Tes Kislev farbrengen in Kfar Chabad, and his Tuesday visit brought him this time to 770, the center of Chabad-Lubavitch.
