Singer Chaim Gold has released a new musical rendition of the well-known nigun “Hisorerus Rachamim Rabim” by Reb Michel Zlotchover. It is often referred to simply as Reb Michel Zlotchover’s nigun.
Reb Michel was one of those who arranged niggunim for the Baal Shem Tov, and he composed many niggunim. Before his passing, the Baal Shem Tov asked his talmidim to sing this niggun. After they finished, he promised that whenever a person would sing this niggun with heartfelt feelings of teshuvah, he would join in the singing with his neshama and arouse abundant mercy, rachamim rabim, for that person before Hashem.
The soulful niggun is given a fresh arrangement on the new album, blending its timeless Chassidic sound with Gold’s contemporary musical approach. Through the new arrangement, the familiar niggun carries that same old yearning, one that never truly disappears.
The album was produced and artistically directed by Chaim Gold, with musical arrangements and production by Chaim Gold, Yanky Cohen and Levi Yitzchak Maurer. Graphics and design are by Motti Naeh, with public relations by Mendy Kurant.
