Hands-On Tzitzis Workshop Brings Halacha to Life at ULY

8th-grade talmidim of Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Shmueli at Lubavitcher Yeshiva had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on tzitzis workshop by Rabbi Eliyahu Ezagui. The project was the culmination of months of studying the halachos of tzitzis.

In an engaging initiative, the 8th-grade students of Lubavitcher Yeshiva had the opportunity to participate in a hands-on tzitzis workshop. This special project was the culmination of months of studying the halachos of tzitzis, and it provided students with a tangible and meaningful way to apply their knowledge.

Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Shmueli‘s 8th-grade class spent several months delving into the intricacies of tzitzis. Through dedicated study and discussion, the students gained a deep understanding of the halachos and significance of this fundamental mitzvah. To celebrate the conclusion of their studies, the class participated in a special workshop where they learned to tie their own pair of tzitzis strings.

The workshop was led by Rabbi Eliyahu Ezagui, an expert tzitzis maker who provided individual guidance and attention to each student. With his expertise, the students were able to craft their own pair of tzitzis, bringing the halachos they learned to life. This hands-on experience not only reinforced their understanding of the mitzvah but also instilled a sense of pride and ownership.

According to Rabbi Shmueli, the workshop was a resounding success. “Not only did they learn the halachos of tzitzis, but they actually made their very own pair to wear on a daily basis, empowering their enjoyment in serving Hashem.” By creating their own tzitzis, the students developed a deeper connection to the mitzvah and a greater appreciation for its significance.

The success of this project has paved the way for future initiatives that combine theoretical learning with practical application. As Rabbi Shmueli noted, “We look forward to many more of such projects in the future.” By providing students with hands-on experiences like the tzitzis workshop, ULY is inspiring a new generation of students to deepen their connection to Jewish traditions and practices.
