Following Attack, Fellow Shluchim Show Solidarity in Orleans

In response to the despicable attack against Shliach Rabbi Aryeh Engelberg of Orléans, France this past Shabbos on his way back from Shul, Shluchim from across France came over in solidarity to show support and encourage the Jewish community. As Loiret doesn’t have a Mikvah, a campaign has been launched to empower the community’s future.

The Shluchim in France have come to support and encourage Shliach Rabbi Aryeh Engelberg, who was attacked this past Shabbos in the city of Orléans in France. They visited his shul and held a spirited farbrengen with resolve to strengthen each other in their Shlichus, no matter what comes their way.

It was decided that in the face of hatred, their response would be to strengthen Jewish life and respond with light. One of the crucial elements of Jewish life that had been missing in Orléans is access to a Mikveh. Yet, this essential element of Jewish purity and spirituality is a crucial need for families and the local community. Building a Mikveh means anchoring the Jewish presence; it means giving women, families, and future generations access to this fundamental pillar of Judaism.

Following the Rebbe’s approach of responding to challenges by strengthening Jewish life, a campaign has been launched to enable the construction of the first mikveh in Orléans.
