In makeshift tents, dusty staging areas, and between tanks and convoys of jeeps, volunteers from Ezer L’Chayal are on the frontlines, supporting soldiers with both spiritual and physical essentials – including Chitas, tzitzis adapted for combat, microfilm Chitas cards, high-quality tefillin, portable air conditioners, and cooling fans that provide vital relief from the oppressive heat.
In makeshift tents, dusty staging areas, and between tanks and convoys of jeeps, Ezer L’Chayal teams reached IDF soldiers on the front lines, offering them both material and emotional support amid ongoing military operations.
Operating under extreme conditions, the volunteers distributed hygiene kits and toiletries, along with cold drinks, ice pops, and ice cream delivered from a freezer-equipped mobile unit. For many soldiers, it marked the first time in days that someone had personally checked in on them and provided a moment of comfort and connection to home.
One of the most appreciated gestures was the distribution of portable air conditioners and cooling fans, which offered vital relief from the oppressive heat.
“We couldn’t believe someone actually came all the way here with ice cream,” said one soldier. At the same time, others took the opportunity to inscribe a letter in the Sefer Torah, following the directive of the Rebbe that this brings true protection to those on the battlefield. The effort also included the well-known “secret weapon” – the Mivtza Tefillin campaign.
On the ground, volunteers distributed Chitas volumes to tanks and armored vehicles, personalized tzitzis adapted for combat, microfilm Chitas cards for soldiers, and high-quality tefillin sets.
Yehuda Lakhyani, project manager for Ezer L’Chayal, emphasized that the organization’s work extended beyond logistics. “Our activities are both practical and deeply emotional. They support the soldiers physically and spiritually. We reach them in their most difficult moments and remind them that the entire nation stands behind them with immense gratitude,” he said. “This is a powerful kiddush Hashem and an expression of Chabad that hastens the revelation of Moshiach.”
Rabbi Eliyahu Gutman, head of the organization, issued a message to families within the Anash community. “For those whose children are currently serving in the IDF, we are happy to offer assistance and support with joy,” he said.
