For the first time, the Rebbe’s shluchim across Hungary gathered this week for a national Kinus Hashluchim and farbrengen, bringing together 27 shluchim and their families from cities across the country.

The event took place at the historic Óbuda Synagogue in Budapest, with shluchim attending from the capital as well as other cities, including Debrecen, Miskolc, and additional communities throughout Hungary. Many of the participants have been active in Hungary for decades, with veteran shluchim marking over 36 years of continuous work revitalizing Jewish life.

The gathering was led by Rabbi Baruch Oberlander, head shliach to Hungary and Av Beis Din of the frum community in Budapest, who thanked each shliach for their dedication. The shluchim discussed current challenges and future plans, particularly focusing on strengthening educational programs across the country.

The kinus also marked the birthday of Rabbi Shlomo Köves, Chief Rabbi of EMIH (the Association of Hungarian Jewish Communities) and Rav of the Óbuda shul, who hosted the event.

Special guest Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs, head shliach and Chief Rabbi of the Netherlands, addressed the participants and shared insights from his decades of shlichus.

The evening concluded with a heartfelt farbrengen, in the spirit of “k’ish echad b’lev echad” – a strong sense of unity and shared purpose among the shluchim, in the days leading up to Shavuos.
