The Antwerp Mesivta, which caters to talmidim from across Europe, began their new zman with a father-and-son learning session. This year, they added a Shiur Alef in Yiddish, to help bochurim become fluent in “the Rebbe’s language.”
The new zman began at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Antwerp, Belgium, with great enthusiasm. The yeshiva boasts close to a hundred students and serves as a nurturing environment for the children of shluchim from across Europe.
The Rosh Yeshiva began by welcoming the bochurim joining Shiur Alef, and welcomed back the temimim in Shiurim Beis and Gimmel. The program began with inspiring words from the Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Tverdovitz, and the Chairman of the Institutions and general mashpia, Rabbi Shabtai Slaviticki.
Following the opening speeches, the students and their fathers had a chavrusa in Mesechta Sukkah, which will be the focus of their studies this year.
A new initiative for this year is the introduction of a “Yiddish Language Class” for Shiur Alef, where students will learn with their teachers in Yiddish. The yeshiva administration emphasized the importance of learning Yiddish, “the Rebbe’s language,” and is committed to helping all students understand and speak Yiddish.
