Fallen IDF Soldier Was Courageous Rescuer of Jewish Women

After the death of IDF Captain Harel Sharvit, hy”d, who recently fell in action in Gaza, Yad L’achim revealed that he was a veteran volunteer who took part in efforts to extricate Jewish women and children from Arab villages.

The identity of Yad L’Achim security staffers and volunteers isn’t known to the public. For obvious reasons, the heroic rescues of women and children from Arab villages are kept far from the public eye.

Only now, with the death of IDF Captain Harel Sharvit, Hy”d, who recently fell in action in Gaza, did the organization disclose that Harel was a veteran volunteer of Yad L’Achim rescue unit who took part in our ongoing efforts to extricate Jewish women and children from Arab villages.

Harel, the son of Harav Yitzchak and Noga Sharvit, was always available to help, at any hour, in any situation, including the most complicated, dangerous events.

Attached is a screen shot of a request sent out by the Yad L’Achim rescue team asking for assistance in an operation in the Shechem/Hawara area. In response to the question, “Anyone available,” Harel’s immediate answer was “I am.”

May his memory be a blessing.
