A new publication by Rabbi Velvel Adler closely examines the Rebbe’s ma’amar of Basi Legani 5721 in an original way, by analyzing the exact words in Yiddish that the Rebbe said when saying the ma’amar.

The booklet, titled Umedayeik B’Maamar, spans a whopping 186 pages, transcribes the ma’amar as said by the Yud Shvat farbrengen word-for-word, and includes copious footnotes comparing the wording to ma’amarim of Basi Legani said on other years, as well as to ma’amarim of the Previous Rebbeim.

The style utilized by Rabbi Adler is not a conventional one, and not one utilized by many mashpi’im and teachers of Chassidus. Nevertheless, it is intriguing to see the precision in each of the Rebbe’s words, and the particularity evident even in the minor expressions used by the Rebbe.
