Cheder Students Lead Eight Mitzvah Tanks Across Chicago
Students of Cheder Lubavitch and local bochurim filled eight Mitzvah Tanks, in a project of Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois to bring mitzvos to communities across Chicagoland.
Local bochurim, together with students of Cheder Lubavitch, filled eight Mitzvah Tanks that traveled throughout Chicago, spreading the message of Pesach and distributing Shmurah Matzah and Neshek to passersby during the annual Yud Aleph Nissan parade.
The parade began at Cheder Lubavitch Hebrew Day School in Skokie, where the students joined a special rally and Mitzvah Tank send-off. From there, the tanks—led by Chicago’s new Mitzvah Tank—made their way to the Daley Center, where the bochurim broke out in lively, spontaneous dancing before spreading out across Chicago.
The bochurim enthusiastically took to the streets as part of the 29th annual Mitzvah Tank Parade held each Yud Aleph Nissan. They shared the spirit of the upcoming Yom Tov, offering matzah and a smile to every Jew they encountered.
Rabbi Dovid Kotlarsky, Shliach to the East Lakeview neighborhood, shared about the bochurim from the tank that came to his area: “The mivtzoim the bochurim did were tremendous. In just a few hours, they distributed close to 100 boxes of Shmurah Matzah to Yidden we would otherwise not reach. We look forward to the parade every year.”
This year’s parade featured a vibrant LED truck displaying the Rebbe’s message for Pesach and Education Day in honor of Yud Aleph Nissan, the Rebbe’s birthday.
The parade was organized by Rabbi Levi Moscowitz, together with bochurim Mottel Moscowitz and Zalman Moscowitz, with the help of many local bochurim.
