In Tbilisi, Georgia, for a Shabbos with 60 “Chavrusos,” R’ Shaul Alter, the Gerrer Rosh Yeshiva and leader of the growing Pnei Menachem community, was welcomed by Chabad shluchim.
Participants in the Shabbos are supporters who joined a “Chavrusa” project, initiating a personal chavrusa with the Rosh Yeshiva for a philanthropic sum of $360,000 a year to support the educational institutions. With this, they earn the ability to learn b’chavrusa with the Rosh Yeshiva and to discuss with him Torah topics throughout the year.
The Shabbos was presided over by R’ Shaul and his brother, R’ Daniel, both of whom have a close relationship with Lubavitch, Chassidus Chabad, and the Rebbe.
Greeting him there, were shluchim Rabbi Meir Kozlovsky and Rabbi Mendy Edry who discussed with him Chassidus and their influence on the Jewish community, leaving the Rosh Yeshiva very impressed.
