Bringing Together a “Patchwork” Community

Lamplighters: Stories From Shluchim On The Jewish Frontier: Rabbi Chaim and Rebbetzin Aidel Zaklos have built a strong Jewish community in Solano County, a 900 square mile rural area situated between Sacramento and the Bay Area.

In Episode 19 of Lamplighters: Stories From Chabad Emissaries On The Jewish Frontier, reporter/producer Gary Waleik presents the story of Rabbi Chaim and Rebbetzin Aidel Zaklos, who have built a strong Jewish community in Solano County, a 900 square mile rural area situated between Sacramento and the Bay Area. When the shluchim arrived there, numbers suggested it would be very difficult to thrive in what was described as a “patchwork community.” But those people underestimated the Zakloses and the people they inspire.

Lamplighters: Stories From Chabad Emissaries On The Jewish Frontier is producing a series of moving, beautifully produced, sound-rich and often surprising stories of Chabad shluchim and the people they inspire in every corner of the world.
