At Massive Tribute, Argentina’s President Speaks About the Rebbe

At a massive Tribute to the Rebbe held at the government auditorium in downtown Buenos Aires, Argentine President Javier Milei arrived to deliver a special address at a major event marking Gimmel Tammuz.

Argentine President Javier Milei arrived at the government auditorium in downtown Buenos Aires to deliver a special address at a major event marking Gimmel Tammuz. The gathering drew thousands of participants and was led by the country’s chief shliach, Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt.

Milei has participated in a number of Chabad events, including Chabad Argentina’s public Chanukah celebration shortly after taking office and the last two years’ tribute gatherings for Gimmel Tammuz, which he attended discreetly from a balcony without public announcement.

Also participating in the evening was Gaza captivity survivor Yosef Chaim Ohana, who captivated the audience with his personal story. In a live interview conducted on stage by the Rebbe’s shliach in the city, Rabbi Chaim Oirechman, he shared his difficult experiences, the miracles he witnessed, and the light he found at the end of the tunnel.

At the conclusion of the interview, his father, Avi Ohana, addressed the crowd and moved the audience with heartfelt words of faith, trust in Hashem, and gratitude for the Rebbe’s blessings that accompanied him throughout the ordeal.

The evening was skillfully MCed by the Rebbe’s shliach in Buenos Aires, Rabbi Mendy Grunblatt. This year’s event was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Mivtza Chinuch and featured inspiring video presentations tracing the campaign’s development from its launch by the Rebbe through contemporary initiatives aimed at strengthening Jewish education.

The Rebbe’s Kapitel Tehillim was recited by Hatomim Avremi Schapiro, who recently completed a lengthy rehabilitation and publicly thanked Hashem for the miracles and blessings he experienced. Rabbi Grunblatt delivered words of inspiration and encouragement, emphasizing connection to the Rebbe. The program was accompanied throughout by uplifting and stirring niggunim led by Lubavitch singer R’ Mendy Drachman.

During the event, participants accepted hachlatos tovos in honor of Gimmel Tammuz. At the conclusion of the evening, a raffle was held among the thousands in attendance for a dollar distributed by the Rebbe for tzedakah.

The event was organized by Tzach Argentina under the direction of Rabbi Levi and Etti Zilberstein, with the assistance of many shluchim from Chabad Houses throughout the city.

The following day, President Milei welcomed Yosef Chaim Ohana, his father Avi Ohana, Rabbi Tzvi Grunblatt, and Rabbi Chaim Oirchman to his presidential palace.

During the meeting, Ohana thanked Milei for his steadfast support of Israel and efforts on behalf of the hostages. The delegation presented the president with a portrait of the Rebbe and a special commemorative coin, and Milei was moved to hear about the prayers held for Ohana’s release at the Rebbe’s Ohel.
