Three Jewish Hostages Are Back in Israel

As part of the hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, IDF soldier Agam Berger was released this morning, followed by two Jewish and five Thai hostages a few hours later. In response to Berger being paraded through a chaotic mob of terrorists during the transfer, the IDF delayed the release of terrorists by a few hours.

The IDF announced shortly after 10:30 a.m. that released IDF soldier Agam Berger crossed the border into Israel after 482 days of captivity in Gaza. She reunited with her parents near the Gaza border and was flown to Beilinson Hospital.

Berger was released by Hamas to the Red Cross in Jabaliya in northern Gaza after being forced to parade across a stage in front of a huge crowd in a mock IDF uniform.

A few hours later, in the early afternoon, Arbel Yehud, 29, and Gadi Mozes, 80, and five Thai hostages were transferred on Thursday to the Red Cross after being forced to walk, surrounded by Islamic Jihad terrorists, through a chaotic jeering mob of human animals. A video of Yehud being forced through the crowd showed her visibly terrified.

The second group of hostages were transferred to the IDF and crossed into Israel at about 2 p.m.

The IDF announced that Mozes was examined and is in stable condition. He is being transferred to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.

Israel has reportedly sent angry messages of protest at the treatment of the hostages to the mediators. Later, it was reported that Israel turned back the bus of released terrorists from Ofer Prison and is refusing to release them until the mediators arrange guarantees that hostages to be released in the next stage will not endure such scenes of terror.

In a heinous display of terror and cruelty, hundreds of armed and masked Islamic Jihad terrorists and “innocent” Gazan civilians swarmed like cockroaches at the site of the release of an elderly man, a female Israeli civilian, and five Thair nationals in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Yehud and Mozes were exposed to chaotic sights and sounds as the vehicle carrying them slowly progressed amid the mob scene to the site of the transfer, next to the rubble that formerly was the home of slain Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar. According to reports, their delay was released due to the PIJ terror group’s bestial desire to photograph the hostages in front of the ruins of Sinwar’s home.

On her helicopter ride to freedom, she wrote: “I chose the path of faith, and I returned in the path of faith.”

Mrs. Bruria Efune wrote:

“For 481 days in captivity, Agam risked everything to keep her faith. She refused to cook for the terrorists on Shabbos. She insisted on eating kosher, and when the terrorists offered her non-kosher meat, she refused to touch it. The young teen davened every day, and even when she was starving and hungry, she paused to recite a bracha before eating the little food she had.

“Halacha would have permitted Agam to do what she needed to survive and avoid further abuse from the terrorists. But she chose her faith, and stayed the path.

“I think that Shabbos stood by her, too. Agam was meant to be released on Shabbos, but through a surprising twist of events, she got to come home two days before. This week, Agam will get to light Shabbos candles with her whole family at her side.”

Discussion

We appreciate your feedback. If you have any additional information to contribute to this article, it will be added below.

  1. There is a bit of conflating between Agam Berger and Arbel Yehud in this write up.

On her helicopter ride to freedom, she wrote: “I chose the path of faith, and I returned in the path of faith.” – this is Agam Berger (the 1st of the hostages released today BH)

In response to Berger being paraded through a chaotic mob of terrorists during the transfer, the IDF delayed the release of terrorists by a few hours. – I was under the impression that the anger was mostly about Arbel Yehud & Gadi Mozes’ chaotic release? I am not sure about this, but it seemed much worse.

  2. The אמונה פשוטה of Agam Berger and her staunch מסירת נפש in the face of very real risk of death is nothing short of astounding.
May the אויבערשטער grant her and all them healing and comfort בביאת משיח צדקנו נאו
