Following the collapse of the Israel-Hamas deal and growing concerns and reports of released terrorists returning to violence, over 400 rabbonim from the Congress for Peace organization have sent a strong letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, urging him to oppose returning to any further agreements that would involve releasing terrorists.
In their letter, the rabbonim expressed deep disappointment over the deal, warning that such agreements put lives at risk rather than securing their safety. “Out of deep concern and immense pain, we express our disappointment and protest against the dangerous deal signed between Israel and the murderous terrorist organization Hamas, led and encouraged by you,” the letter states.
The rabbis emphasized that past deals of this nature have directly contributed to increased terrorism and loss of innocent lives. “It was precisely the release of terrorists in past deals that led to the horrors of October 7,” they wrote, referring to the Hamas-led massacre in Israel. “Many of the terrorists responsible for these atrocities were previously freed in similar agreements.”
Citing research indicating that nearly 90% of released terrorists return to terrorism, the letter warned that this latest deal had only strengthened Hamas. “There is no doubt—the deal has given Hamas a massive boost. Thousands more terrorists have joined their ranks, and the countdown to the next massacre has already begun.”
The rabbonim further stressed that the agreement sent a devastating message to terrorist organizations worldwide: “The kidnapping of Israeli civilians is a profitable enterprise. Hamas has proven that one can murder Jews, secure the release of terrorists, and gain immunity from punishment—even after committing unimaginable atrocities. This message puts thousands of lives at risk.”
In their closing appeal, the rabbis called on Trump to advocate for a strategy that would enable Israel to continue its military campaign without interruption. “When a nation fights for its survival against a bloodthirsty enemy, there is no greater priority than achieving its total defeat. Every ceasefire is a dangerous retreat.”
They urged Trump to fully support Israel in its mission to dismantle Hamas, stating, “You must stand with Israel in its uncompromising fight against Hamas and help ensure its complete destruction. We are confident that if you take the right course of action, the Almighty will stand by your side and lead you to success—for the sake of the United States, Israel, and all of humanity.”
