What One Incredible Couple Did for Crown Heights
Individuals in Crown Heights are quietly working wonders through the Women’s Circle, helping children receive new Yom Tov clothing, enabling women to purchase new sheitels, supporting new mothers, and sustaining meaningful programs for women and families.
A young couple reached out to my wife. They wanted to help local families purchase Yom Tov clothing for their children. And they wanted my wife, director of the Crown Heights Women’s Circle, to discreetly distribute the funds.
This young couple, together with a friend, joyfully gifted $20,000 for 200 Crown Heights children to buy something beautiful and new l’kavod Yom Tov. Can you picture the joyousness in all those homes?
The next yom tov season rolled around and they gave again. And the next and the next.
This past year, another couple approached the WC with a whopping $80,000 grant to educate Crown Heights women on the importance of wearing a sheitel and actually gave 20 women $4,000 each to purchase new sheitels.
I am so touched by these couple’s sensitivity and generosity. I am also proud of the WC, an organization organically grown in Crown Heights, born of the hard work and dedication of my wife and other women.
These couples witnessed how the WC comes through for families in crisis.
They admired how the WC helps new mothers with meals.
They appreciate that the WC is there during the good times, with a weekly Wednesday Circle Torah class and monthly programs where women get together to learn and strengthen each other.
They heard about the Shabbatons which provide physical, spiritual, emotional and social nourishment and which many women have described as “life-changing.”
They are blown away by the innovative Imahos U’banos monthly mother-daughter learning sessions taking place in shuls across Crown Heights.
And they value the fact that every WC event is done with the class and warmth typical of Chabad Houses.
Essentially, these donors recognize the good work of the WC and know that their money will be well spent.
The WC is working quiet wonders in the Rebbe’s shchunah. And members of the Rebbe’s shchunah are working wonders for the WC.
I am asking you to partner with them today.
Please join my wife in her vital work by contributing to the fundraiser at www.matchathon.com/wc.
With your generosity and Hashem’s help, they will continue to expand to meet the growing needs of the Crown Heights community as we greet Moshiach.
May Hashem bentch you to always be on the giving end, under conditions of ה.ג.פ.ן: Gezunt; Parnasa; Nachas; and all of them with Harchava,
Rabbi Mordechai Lipskier
