Veteran Chabad Pianist Debuts ‘A Niggun’s Journey’

Nearly eighteen years after his last album of Lubavitcher melodies, pianist Gershon Wachtel returns with A Niggun’s Journey, a collection of twelve niggunim played in the warm, intimate piano style familiar from his earlier recordings.

Pianist Gershon Wachtel has released A Niggun’s Journey, a new album of twelve Chabad niggunim and his first full collection of Lubavitcher music in nearly eighteen years.

The album continues the simple format of his earlier recording, From My Heart to Yours: Songs of the Lubavitcher Chassidim, allowing the melodies to be heard through piano without vocals or a full musical production.

The selections range from niggunim associated with Chassidim of earlier generations to melodies connected with Shabbos, Yom Tov and yechidus, bringing several less frequently recorded niggunim together in one collection.

Wachtel’s previous Chabad recordings have remained popular over the years, with several of his piano renditions surpassing 100,000 plays online. The new album now returns to that same intimate sound, placing the niggun and its movement at the center of each track.

A Niggun’s Journey is available on all major streaming platforms.
