On a diplomatic visit to Budapest, Hungary, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar met with shliach Rabbi Shlomo Koves at the grand Kazinczy Shul, along with other community leaders.

Being right after Chof Daled Teves, the Alter Rebbe’s yahrzeit, Rabbi Koves noted the profound connection the Alter Rebbe had with Eretz Yisroel and the directive of ‘Mach Doh Eretz Yisroel,’ highlighting how this directive is reflected in the way the Rebbe’s shluchim transform their makom shlichus.

Afterward, Minister Sa’ar spoke about the importance of unity, emphasizing that it was a key factor in his decision to join the government. He also reiterated the Rebbe’s stance on not relinquishing territories from Eretz Yisroel and shared how, throughout his political career, he has consistently opposed such concessions.

At the conclusion of the visit, the community leaders presented Minister Sa’ar with a unique gift: the title page of Masechtas Sanhedrin, printed in Budapest prior to the Holocaust.
