The Kosel plaza is expected to fill with tens of thousands of men, women and children, together with prominent rabbonim and Chassidic leaders, for the grand completion and hachnosas Sefer Torah of the ninth Sefer Torah written for Jewish children.

Participants will travel from communities across Eretz Yisroel for the special gathering, celebrating a project that has united Jewish children throughout the world for more than four decades.

The initiative began at the Rebbe’s instruction in 5741. The Rebbe spoke about the unique power of children to bring unity to the world and called for every Jewish child to acquire one letter in a Sefer Torah written especially for children.

For the symbolic cost of one dollar, contributed from the child’s own money or with the participation of the parents, each child receives a colorful certificate bearing the child’s name and identifying the parsha in which the letter appears.

Since then, eight Sifrei Torah have been completed and dedicated at large gatherings at the Kosel.

The upcoming event will begin with a live broadcast of the writing of the final letters. The broadcast will then continue with the traditional procession from the Jewish Quarter to the Kosel plaza.

At the Kosel, the gathering will continue with dancing, singing, addresses by rabbonim, the recitation of pesukim and special multimedia presentations. The Chief Rabbis of Israel and members of the Chabad Beis Din are also expected to participate.

The message accompanying the event is the Rebbe’s instruction: “Those who cannot participate physically should take an interest in the details of the celebration and participate with their money and with their neshama.”

Anash who will attend in person, together with those unable to travel, are taking part in the historic celebration through their presence, support and spiritual participation.
