Rabbi Yosef Gerlitzky, Head Shliach of Tel Aviv, celebrated his 70th birthday with a grand farbrengen in Crown Heights on Thursday night, joined by fellow shluchim, family members and friends.

Born in Montreal to Rabbi Moshe Eliyahu and Chana Gerlitzky, Rabbi Gerlitzky was sent after his marriage on short-term shlichus by the Rebbe to various locations, including to Iran and the Far East. In 5738, he was part of the group of shluchim chosen by the Rebbe to travel to Tzfas, and in 5741, he received a bracha from the Rebbe to establish a Chabad center in Tel Aviv.

Over the years, Rabbi Gerlitzky has played a pivotal role in the growth of Chabad institutions, Torah study centers, schools, and more throughout Tel Aviv. He also serves as the rov of Central Tel Aviv.

Joining the celebration in Crown Heights were his brothers Rabbi Avrohom Gerlitzky, maggid shiur in Oholei Torah, and Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky, head of Kollel Tiferes Zkeinim Levi Yitzchok, as well as fellow shluchim from Eretz Yisroel and around the world, students, admirers and locals from Crown Heights.
