Shliach Presents Donald Trump with a Pesach Gift

When asked if he had any questions, shliach to Southwest Florida Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz responded that he would like to give the president a gift.

While speaking at a private reception at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, President Donald J. Trump noticed a rabbi in the crowd and began to praise his tremendous support for Israel, especially regarding the Iran nuclear deal and moving the embassy to Jerusalem. He then asked Rabbi Minkowicz if he had any questions. Rabbi Minkowicz responded that he would like to give the president a gift of shmura matza.

The president considered it and said, “You look innocent.” He instructed the Secret Service to accept the gift on his behalf and thanked Rabbi Minkowicz publicly for the gift.

Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz introduced the mitzvah of shmura matzah to many well-known personalities who were at the event, such as John Gibbs and Coffey Anderson.

When sharing with neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson the significance of the shmura matzah and how it is the bread of faith and healing, Dr. Ben Carson remarked that the shmura matza actually looks like the brain.

The matzah presented was a gift from the Gurevitch family in loving memory of Rabbi Chaim Gurevitch who was passionate about giving out shmura matzah before Pesach. May Reb Chaim’s soul be elevated by the continuation of this mitzvah in his memory.
