Rabbis in Islamic States Convene on Kinus Sidelines

A dozen shluchim and rabbis serving in majority Muslim countries met on the sidelines of the International Kinus Hashluchim to discuss and share ideas on strengthing Yiddishkeit in their nations.

A dozen shluchim and rabbis serving in majority Muslim countries met on the sidelines of the International Kinus Hashluchim to discuss and share ideas on strengthing Yiddishkeit in their nations.

The meeting was chaired by Rabbi Mendy Chitrik, shliach in Istanbul, and chairman and founder of the Alliance of Rabbis in Islamic States (ARIS), and Rabbi Rafael David Banon, a member of the beis din in Montreal and dayan of the Chabad community there.

Among them were Rabbi Chaim Hillel Azimov shliach to Northern Cypress, Rabbi Levi Banon, shliach to Casablanca, Morocco, Rabbi Levi Duchman, shliach to the United Arab Emirates, Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen, Chief Rabbi of Kazakhstan, Rabbi Israel Uzan shliach to Lagos, Nigeria, and others.

Joining them was Chief Rabbi of Iran Yehuda Gerami who is visiting the United States for the International Kinus Hashluchim. Rabbi Gerami’s visit to New York was organized by Merkos 302 at the invitation of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky.
