R’ Meir Rotenstreich, a long-time resident of Crown Heights and patriarch of a large family, passed away on Thursday night, 15 Av, 5782.

R’ Meir Rotenstreich, a long-time resident of Crown Heights and patriarch of a large family, passed away on Thursday night, 15 Av, 5782.

He was 91 years old.

Born in Pshevorsk, Poland his family was continuously on the run during the Holocaust and managed to escape to Russia. During that period he first came in contact with Lubavitch, and then in the DP camps after the war he became a full-fledged chossid.

He was someone who had a great passion for learning and he was makpid on davening with a minyan up until the end of his life. During the last many years of his life he would recite the entire Sefer Tehilim each day.

He was mekusher to the Rebbe and very proud of all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all over the world.

He was predeceased by his wife Batsheva Rotenstreich and his son Yankel Rotenstreich.

He is survived by his wife Libby Rotenstreich, and children Braindy (& Eli) Gitler, Monsey NY, Perel (& Itchel) Krasnjansky, Honolulu, HI, Naftali (& Sorie) Rotenstreich, Manhattan, NY and his grandchildren Yossi, Tzivi & Gitty Rotenstreich (children of Yankel a’h).

The Levaya will be held Sunday, 17 Menachem Av, 11:00 am st Shomrei Hadas, 3803 14th Avenue Passing in front of 770 at 12:15 PM

Shiva Information:
At the Rotenstreich, 765 Montgomery St., Mrs. Libby Rotenstreich will be sitting from Sunday afternoon.
In Israel : Braindy Gitler, Perel Krasnjansky, Naftali Rotenstreich will be sitting at Yismach Melech 33, apt 1 (David’s Village, Mamila), Monday from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Thereafter, siblings will continue to sit shiva in Crown Heights, at the home of the Niftar 765 Montgomery St.
Shiva times:
9 AM to 12:30 PM
1:30 PM to 4:30 PM
6 PM to 10 PM
Please respect the family’s privacy during their break time

Davening times, effective Tuesday morning:
Shacharis– 8:30 AM
Mincha – 7:30 PM
Maariv – 8:30 PM
