Charlotte, nestled in the rolling hills of North Carolina’s Piedmont region, is experiencing steady growth in its Israeli population. Recognizing the increasing need for Hebrew-language activities and programs, Rabbi Sholom Ber and Mushka Pevzner, along with their son Mendel, have joined Chabad of Charlotte to cater to the Hebrew-speaking community.
Chabad in Charlotte was founded in 1980 by Mushka’s grandparents, Head Shluchim Rabbi Yossi and Mariashi Groner. They will be expanding Chabad Center for Jewish Life in Charlotte into their seventh division, and have already made a strong impact in Charlotte by hosting a Seder, Chanukah mivtzoim, and a Tu Bishvat gathering. They have also introduced new classes and bar mitzvah lessons to meet the growing demand for Hebrew-speaking programs.
Their aim is to strengthen the foundations for the thriving Hebrew-speaking community in Charlotte, creating a space to connect, celebrate, and learn in a comfortable and familiar language.
