Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, every needy family and individual in Moscow received a generous food basket in a successful initiative spearheaded by Chief Rabbi of Russia, Rabbi Berel Lazar.
A special effort was made this year in Moscow to ensure that every needy family and individual receives an expanded food basket for Rosh Hashanah. The Kimcha D’Tishrei project, named after the traditional practice to distribute food before the holiday, saw a significant increase in donations and distributions.
Thanks to the initiative of Rabbi Berel Lazar, Chief Rabbi of Russia, and the generous support of the community, thousands of families in Moscow received generous food packages containing meat, poultry, fish, wine, oil, fresh fruits, vegetables, and other staples. Rabbi Lazar personally visited the Shaarei Tzedek Jewish Community Center to oversee the distribution process and express his gratitude to the volunteers and donors.
In a special message to the Jewish community, Rabbi Lazar emphasized the importance of tzedaka and unity, especially during challenging times. He encouraged everyone to embrace the new year with hope and renewal.
In providing essential food items, the Kimcha D’Tishrei project helps ensure that all members of the community can celebrate Rosh Hashanah with dignity and joy.
