Morristown Magid Shiur Elucidates Alter Rebbe’s Hilchos Pesach

A new sefer published by Rabbi Shmuel Zajac, a Magid Shiur at the Yeshivah in Morristown, explores many complex halachos related to Hilchos Pesach and is an invaluable resource for those learning Maseches Pesachim.

A welcome addition to the world of Torah scholarship has recently arrived in Seforim stores with the publication of the fourth volume in the acclaimed Yesodei HaShulchan U’Zikukei Orosov series, authored by Rabbi Shmuel Zajac, a Magid Shiur at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim Morristown.

This newest volume is dedicated to Hilchos Pesach in the Shulchan Aruch of the Alter Rebbe and presents a comprehensive treatment of the intricate sugyos relating to bedikas chametz and bitul chametz, the parameters of bal yera’eh u’bal yimatzei on both a Torah and Rabbinic level, the Halochos governing landlords and tenants regarding chametz ownership, cases of uncertainty concerning retained chametz, and the halachos of biur chametz. The volume also includes extensive discussions of selected topics relating to ta’aruvos chametz, the halachos and minhagim of the Seder night, Sefiras HaOmer, and much more.

The uniqueness of this sefer lies in the author’s remarkable effort to uncover and explain, to the fullest extent possible, the depth and breadth of the Alter Rebbe’s words. As is well known, every word of the Alter Rebbe is written with extraordinary precision, concise expression, and profound depth. Through original analysis, penetrating sevaros, and numerous significant chiddushim, the author guides the reader through the underlying structure of the Alter Rebbe’s psak.

The sefer brings together two complementary components, each designed to guide the learner toward a deeper appreciation of the depth, precision, and underlying foundations of the Alter Rebbe’s rulings.

The first component, Yesodei HaShulchan, carefully analyzes the words of the Alter Rebbe, demonstrating how each phrase and expression is firmly rooted in the words of Chazal and the classic poskim, including the Gemara, Tosafos, Rosh, Tur, Beis Yosef, Shulchan Aruch, and Rema.

The complementary component, Zikukei Orosov, uncovers the deeper layers of the Alter Rebbe’s rulings, bringing to light his unique methodology in psak halacha and revealing the richness and depth embedded within his Torah, truly a wellspring without end.

This volume is especially timely for Roshei Yeshivah, Magid Shiurim  and talmidim preparing to learn Maseches Pesachim in the coming zman. The sefer serves as an invaluable resource, covering both the broad principles and the finest details of the halachos of Bedikas and Biur chametz,  as well as the many related sugyos that arise throughout the masechta. Whether one seeks a clear understanding of the simple meaning of the halacha or wishes to delve into its deeper conceptual underpinnings, the sefer presents the material in a thorough, organized, and highly accessible manner.

The Sefer is available in Seforim stores and directly from the author at [email protected].
