A Lubavitcher soldier serving in the IDF’s Chashmonaim Brigade was seriously wounded Tuesday evening in an apparent accidental shooting at the brigade’s training base in the Jordan Valley.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the soldier was taken to a hospital in serious condition after being shot. According to an update from close friends, his condition is stable BH, and he is conscious.

An initial military investigation indicates that the incident may have occurred during improper handling of a weapon involving three soldiers. The Military Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting, and the findings will be submitted to the Military Advocate General for review.

The injured soldier has been identified as Chaim Hershkovitz. The public is asked to daven for Chaim Yisroel ben Yonit for a refuah shleima.
