Lubavitcher Rabbi Yirmi Cohen of Toronto was invited to open the annual general meeting of the UJA Federation of Toronto, one of the largest Federations in North America.
The UJA Federation of Toronto’s Annual General Meeting was held virtually this year. Every year, the Federation asks a rabbi or religious figure to start the meeting off with a prayer, and this year, the CEO of UJA, Mr. Adam Minsky, reached out to Rabbi Cohen to speak.
“Asking a Lubavitcher Chassid to begin this meeting is unique,” Rabbi Cohen noted. “Afterwards, I got a number of messages saying that the talk was a Kiddush Hashem and Kiddush Lubavitch.”
“Over the years, I’ve tried to use my connections with the Federation to promote Jewish Education and to put on tefillin with members at every opportunity,” he said.
