On Motzei Shabbos Vayigash, fathers and sons from Kitos Aleph, Beis and Gimmel of Cheder Menachem Los Angeles gathered for a grand Hakhel Avos U’banim Melaveh Malka.
Over 100 fathers and sons gathered for the event, held in the Moshe Ganz hall. To the sounds of Melaveh Malka music, participants found their places and washed for the seudas melaveh malka.
Head of School Rabbi Mendel Greenbaum welcomed everyone and introduced principal Rabbi Dovid Blasberg, the evening’s MC. The Rebbe’s kapitel was sung together and a Dvar Torah was said by Alter Schapiro followed by a Hey Teves connected story from Rabbi D. Berger. A special Hakhel surprise was Dr. Ganjian playing his “Hakhel trumpet” as everyone sang along to the Niggunim of “Hineni Mayvi Osum” and Didan Notzach.
Every class and grade had a chance to lead one of the 12 pesukim, followed by father and son learning about Hey Teves. They then played a wonderful game of Kahoot with questions on the Hey Teves story as well as questions from what each class has been learning. Following bentching, there was more niggunim on the trumpet.
A big yasher koach was given to Rabbi Blasberg, Rabbi Heidingsfeld, Rabbi Mendel Goldman and his team and to Cheder students, Moshe Davidson, Sholly Gorelik, Mordechai Greenbaum, Avremel Heidingsfeld, Yossele and Baruch Shalom Plotke for their help in organizing and setting up the event.
