Lag Baomer Will Be Utilized to Spread Chassidus
Mobile seforim sales will offer 33% off Chassidus seforim, while thousands of booklets of the Rebbe’s Torah will be distributed to mark the day known as the “Matan Torah of Pnimius HaTorah.”
In a striking statement in the famed Hemsech Samach Vov, the Rebbe Rashab writes that “Shavuos was the Matan Torah of Nigleh, and Lag B’Omer was the Matan Torah of Pnimius HaTorah.” If so, there is no better time to spread the wellsprings of Chassidus and bring them to as many Yidden as possible as on Lag B’Omer.
Over the next several days, Or Hachasidus will be working on several fronts to do exactly that.
Already several days ago, a special booklet was produced featuring a collection of the Rebbe’s Torah on Rebbe Shimon Bar Yochai. Titled Toraso Umanoso, the booklet contains sichos of the Rebbe that delve into various aspects of Rashbi, his life and his Torah, shedding light in a way that enhances the celebration connected to him.
The booklet was printed in tens of thousands of copies and has already been distributed in America and Eretz Yisroel. Thousands of copies will be handed out over the 24 hours of Lag B’omer, including at all major hadlakos and Lag B’Omer events on both sides of the Atlantic.
Another major push will come through the sale of sifrei Chassidus at subsidized prices at locations across New York.
Starting Monday and continuing through Tuesday night, Or Hachasidus’ Baderech Seforim Mobiles will be making stops in Boro Park, Lakewood, Williamsburg, Monsey, and Kiryas Yoel, offering a wide range of seforim on Chassidus. The seforim will be offered at a 33% discount, corresponding to “lag” B’Omer.
These sales bring sifrei Chassidus to tens of thousands of Yidden who might not otherwise encounter them, giving them the opportunity to bring these seforim into their homes and illuminate their lives with the light of Pnimius HaTorah, revealed by Rashbi and expounded upon by the Rebbeim. The discounted prices make the offer especially appealing, and every year sees thousands of seforim purchased on Lag B’Omer, this year is expected to be no different.
“When a Yid in Boro Park or Monsey approaches you on Lag B’Omer afternoon and asks for advice on which sefer to buy to begin studying Tanya, Rashbi is right there with him,” says Rabbi Avraham Mann, director of Or Hachasidus. “The study of Chassidus that will, iy”h, result from these sales will ensure that the Torah of Rashbi does not remain confined to Lag B’Omer, but continues to have an impact throughout the entire year.”
