Kids Learn About Chof Cheshvan Like Never Before
New videos on Chabad Kids Videos bring the Rebbe Rashab’s life and our Rebbe’s teachings on the day to children, parents and teachers.
Parents, teachers and students are learning about Chaf Cheshvan like never before this year, with a new set of Chaf Cheshvan videos on ChabadKidsVideos.com, the fastest-growing Jewish kids website.
Chaf Cheshvan, the 20th of Cheshvan, is the birthday of the Rebbe Rashab, the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe, who founded the yeshivah Tomchei Temimim. This year it falls on Shabbos, October 31.
The site’s new Chaf Cheshvan page brings the day to life in short animated videos made for children. At its center is the life story of the Rebbe Rashab in five parts, meant to be watched one after the other: “A Boy in Lubavitch,” “Becoming Rebbe,” “Tomchei Temimim,” “Stories and Sayings,” and a final part on his last years and Chaf Cheshvan.
Alongside the story, “What our Rebbe says about Chaf Cheshvan” brings our Rebbe’s teachings on the day to a child’s level in two parts, “The Lamplighter” and “I want to see Hashem.” The first is built around the famous Chassidic teaching that a chassid is a lamplighter, and what our Rebbe taught about it.
For older children, and for anyone who wants to go deeper, two “In depth” videos follow: “The jug that never runs dry” and “Make room.” Printable review sheets, in student and teacher editions, let a class watch together and then go over what it learned.
“Chaf Cheshvan is a day every Chassidishe child should know,” said the Chabad Kids Videos team. “We wanted children to meet the Rebbe Rashab as a real person, from his childhood in Lubavitch to founding Tomchei Temimim, and to hear what our Rebbe taught about the day, in a way they will remember.”
“Parents and teachers can sit down with the children before Shabbos and watch the story together,” the site’s creators added. “The lessons of the day, like being a lamplighter for another Jew, are things a child can live with all year.”
The Chaf Cheshvan videos join the rest of the site’s free library. “Today in Chabad,” a new episode every day, covers the day’s Hayom Yom, Sefer HaMitzvos, a lesson in Inyonei Moshiach u’Geulah and a story our Rebbe told, and it is available in English and seven other languages: Hebrew, Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, German and Dutch. The site also offers a Tanya series going perek by perek through Likkutei Amarim, a growing collection of stories our Rebbe told, and more. Selected videos are also on the site’s YouTube channel.
Everything on the site is free for every child.
